ECHR assigns oral arguments in Ukraine, Netherlands vs Russia case

The ECHR's oral arguments in the case "Ukraine and the Netherlands versus Russia" will take place on November 24, 2021. Press office of Ukraine's Justice Ministry reported that on October 4.

The respective information was published in the schedule of consideration of the ECHR cases.

"The case proves effective control over the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions by the Russian Federation, and the aggressor state's control for violating human rights", said Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Justice Valeriya Kolomiytets.

In November 2020, the Grand Chamber of the ECHR decided to merge the cases "Ukraine vs Russia No. 8019/16", which concerns the Russian aggression in Donbas, "Ukraine vs Russia No. 43800/14" about the children that were illegally taken to Russia from Ukrainian schools and kindergartens in 2014, and the case "Netherlands vs Russia" No. 28525/20, which concerns the МН17 disaster.

In 2018, the Dutch government lifted responsibility from Ukraine for the MH17 downing.
