Early parliament election is held in Austria today, October 15, as the parliamentary coalition broke up in May, Kurier reports.

The polls opened at 6 am local time, and preliminary results of the vote will be known at 5 pm, right after the polls close.

The conservative Austrian People's Party headed by Minister for Foreign Affairs Sebastian Kurz is believed to be the leader in this election. According to polling, it may get 30% of the votes.

Freedom Party of Austria and Social Democratic Party of Austria headed by Chancellor Christian Kern are competing for the second place.

6.4 million of people are expected to vote.

The early parliamentary election was scheduled as the coalition in the parliament broke up in May.
