Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister for Reintegration of the Temporary Occupied Territories

Vice Prime Minister, Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Olexiy Reznikov believes that the war in Donbas is devastating Russia economically, and therefore is already unprofitable for it. Reznikov said this in an interview with Radio Liberty.

“The moment has come that such a war with Ukraine is unprofitable, unpragmatic, it does not give any political points, either internal or external, that the confrontation with the world is sucking out the Russian Federation, including economically. For them, the maneuver that they made in 2014, it is already harmful, not beneficial," Reznikov noted.

He noted that Russia needs to support about 3-3.5 million people in the occupied Donbas, provide them with pensions, budget payments, and maintain order. Economically, the Russian authorities can no longer cope today, they do not provide jobs. Hospitals in ORDLO cannot create a normal level of medical care for people during a pandemic.

Earlier the President of Ukraine expressed his conviction that the establishment of peace in Donbas is possible.

In addition, Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine will fully restore control over a section of the border in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
