The soldiers of the Anti-Terrorist Operation are among detained for the attack on the Hungarian Culture Association in Uzhgorod, western Ukraine on February 27. Hennady Moskal, the Head of Zakarpattia Regional State Administration reported this on Facebook.
‘Unfortunately, I should state that there are the soldiers of the Anti-Terrorist Operation among the detained criminals, citizens of Cherkasy and Kropyvnytski who set the office of the Hungarian Culture Association on fire on February 27. They are not the members of the political parties of movements, they went towards the provocation tempted of money’, he claimed.
According to Moskal, the personality of the organizer is also identified – it is a citizen of Transnistria who escaped to home right after the commitment of the crime.
‘According to our information, he is a worker of the Ministry of State Security of Transnistria. Taking into account the status of this territory, the organizer is beyond the reach of the Ukrainian justice at the moment, however, there is no doubt that Russia’s FSB is behind the second arson of the Hungarian Culture Association’, Moskal noted.
He confirms that the Russian special service attempted to involve the local citizens in the arson of the office and when this attempt failed they involved the perpetrators from other regions.
According to Moskal, the aim of the provocation is the dismantlement of Zakarpattia on the inter-ethnic basis. He added that ‘the Donbas scenario’ cannot be embodied here.
Previously, the National Police detained five men involved in the incident; the assumed organizer is still at large.
As we reported Pavlo Klimkin, Ukraine's Foreign Minister claimed that the Russian provocateurs could be behind the recent attack on the Hungarian Culture Association.
