The native of Donetsk region who had served in illegal armed units of pro-Kremlin militants in Donbas was detained in Boryspil airport. The man arrived in Ukraine from Baku; the press department of Ukraine’s SBU, the state security service, reported that on Facebook.

As the airport security and the SBU agents searched the man, he appeared to have a military registration card issued by the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic. The detainee confirmed he served with the illegal armed units, including Oplot terrorist group (pro-Russian separatist group created in Kharkiv in 2010; some of its members are known to have joined the pro-Kremlin fighters in Donbas, when the Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine began, - 112 International).

The SBU currently checks particular intentions of the militant’s return to Ukraine; ‘he could be aiming to prepare acts of sabotage in peaceful regions of the country,’ the security service said.
