President-elect Donald Trump had a telephone conversation with the president of Taiwan Tsai Ing-wen. The sides discussed the issues of relations between Taiwan and Washington in the sphere of economy, politics and security. This was reported by Reuters.

It is noteworthy that Trump became the first elected president since 1979, who violated the policy of "One China" principle, introduced by the US President Jimmy Carter. According to him, Taiwan is only recognized as a part of China.

The Obama administration has already confirmed that the White House continues to follow the policy of "One China."

At the same time, Trump wrote on Twitter, that Tsai Ing-wen was the initiator of the call and wanted to congratulate him on the election as the President of the US.

The speaker of Taiwan administration noted that the parties came to an agreement about the conversation beforehand.
