Andry Deshchytsia, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland claimed that Ukraine and Poland agreed to renew the exhumation at the Ukrainian territory by Poland and restoration of the destroyed Ukrainian memorials at the south of Poland as Ukrinform reported.
According to Deshchytsia, the meeting of Kostyantin Elyseev and Krzysztof Szczerski, the co-chairmen of the Consultative Committee of the Ukrainian and Polish presidents in Krakow broke the tension in the bilateral relations.
‘New information on the agreement on the renewal of the search and exhumation work in Ukraine was published in the mass media. However, it was only one of the numbers of the issues that were agreed by both sides at the joint statement. Moreover, they agreed on the restoration of the Ukrainian memorials at the territory of Poland that were damaged due to the acts of the vandalism in 2014’, Deshchytsia claimed.
The ambassador also reminded that seven memorials were destroyed in the south of Poland and the sides discussed each of them.
The restoration of the memorials will take place step by step, taking into account the peculiarities of each case.
