International NGOs conducted a research in Ukraine, which proved that some 800,000 internally displaced people currently live in Ukraine. Georgiy Tuka, Deputy Minister for Occupied Territories and IDPs, said this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine. According to him, experts from these NGOs analyzed the data of local registration offices, school administrations and the data about changes of mortality statistics.

Since the armed conflict in Donbas began, Ukraine’s government has paid internally displaced persons over 2.3 billion U.S. dollars in subsidies and other forms of social assistance; Ukraine’s Security Service notes that about a half of these people stayed in the occupied areas of Donbas.
