Lyudmila Denisova, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Ukrainian Parliament sent a formal letter to Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova with a proposal of exchanging 36 Russian citizens detained and convicted in Ukraine for misdemeanors against the government. Denisova posted the relevant post on the Facebook page.
‘The message also mentions a possibility of undertaking of the next trilateral session with a participation of the Ukrainian and Russian Commissioners, in order to discuss the questions of organization of humanitarian visits to inspect the conditions of detention of the prisoners, as well as a movement of the prisoners from the places of lack of freedom in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
As it was reported earlier, Ukraine is ready to consider the option of exchanging 13 Russians in addition to the previously voiced 23 names for Ukrainian political prisoners’ release.
Reportedly, Herashchenko voiced 23 Russians who are ready to be exchanged for the Ukrainian political prisoners. For the record, Vyshinsky wasn’t among them. Recently, she addressed Dominik Stillhart Director of Operations of the International Committee of the Red Cross with a request to inspect the conditions of detention and the health condition of Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia and on the occupied territory of Donbas and Crimea.
