A dozen of countries hosted the NATO drills called Defender Europe 21. The exercises are taking place at 30 firing ranges in a dozens of countries; according to Anadolu, they involve 30,000 servicemen from 27 NATO countries. 

According to the Command of U.S. Air Force in Europe, a large contingent of the US Air Force and the US Navy joined the exercises, too. 

The drills employ major ground and maritime routes that connect Europe, Asia and Africa.

New high-tech devices, including anti-aircraft and ant-missile defense systems will be used during the exercises. The recently restored Fifth Corps of the US Army is to participate in the drills as well.

John Kirby, Press Secretary of the Pentagon claimed that the exercises will come to an end in June, as the U.S. forces will return home.

Previous reports mentioned that Ukrainian sailors are going to participate in the Akdeniz 2021, the drills of Turkish Navy. The event is supposed to take place in the western part of the Mediterranean Sea in late 2021.
