Vladyslav Surkov's assumed removal from the office of presidential counselor of Russian leader Putin, actively discussed in the media, is not something that U.S. envoy in Ukraine Kurt Volker approves. He said this himself as quoted by Krym.Realii outlet

Volker claimed that the contact with Surkov contributes to the solution of Donbas conflict. 'I saw the message in the press (about possible removal of Surkov, - 112 International), but the Kremlin did not provide any official information on whether he would or would not continue. Surkov is very smart, very professional, a serious contact person... I would be glad to keep on workign with him, if the Kremlin decides so', Volker said.

He added that the decisions that regard the solution of Donbas conflict lies within the authority of Putin. According to Volker, it is 'crucial to work with someone who has direct contact with the Russian leader'.
