The de-occupation law will strengthen Ukraine's position on the possible deployment of UN peacekeepers in Donbas. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on his Facebook page.
"Russia as an aggressor country will not have any right to participate in this mission, which must be deployed throughout the occupied territory, including the temporarily uncontrolled section of the Ukrainian-Russian border," he said.
The head of state also noted that the document will contribute to strengthening the position of Kyiv regarding the release of hostages.
Earlier, the president stated that the law on reintegration of Donbas proclaims the key peaceful and political-diplomatic way, despite the fact that it regulates the military aspect.
Earlier we reported that representative of the president in Verkhovna Rada, Iryna Lutsenko said that Bill No. 7163 on the return of the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luрansk regions in Eastern Ukraine will make it impossible to charge Ukrainian servicemen for alleged war crimes.
"Legally they, the defenders of Ukraine, will have additional protection and explanation, if, God forbid, Russia wants to use the Hague Tribunal and intimidate our military, as was done in Georgia, then this document was adopted and a definition was adopted that we should have our troops, because we are defending ourselves, "the representative of the president explained.
