The date of exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia has been postponed for an indefinite period. Valentyn Rybin, the lawyer of the Russian citizens judged in Ukraine, said so as quoted by TASS news agency.
"The exchange is, for now, postponed. So far, there's no decree on a pardon; most likely, there are certain forces in the office of Volodymyr Zelensky that wish to disrupt the exchange and damage his popularity", Rybin said.
Previously, the lawyer said the date had been defined, but he refused to name it. Rybin who represents Russian citizens Maksim Odintsov, Aleksandr Baranov and Evgeniy Mefedov said that the lists of those supposed to be exchanged "have not been approved yet".
Five Ukrainian political prisoners, Volodymyr Balukh, Stanislav Klykh, Oleksandr Kolchenko, Pavlo Gryb, and Mykola Karpyuk were judged in Russia for various crimes; all five can be exchanged and brought back to Ukraine so that they would continue to serve time in their homeland.
