Current authorities are not interested in returning people from Donbas today because they will never vote for it at the presidential and parliamentarian elections as 112 Ukraine reported citing Viktor Medvedchuk, the Head of the Political Council of “Opposition platform – For life.”
“The peace plan, offered by me, is to return people, territories, to return Donbas to Ukraine and Ukraine to Donbas. I developed the measures, which could be the topic of the negotiations with Donetsk, Luhansk, and Moscow. Moreover, the measures are developed, which offer these people living in the uncontrolled territory to deliberately return to Ukraine. To offer them things, which can satisfy them and keep the territorial integrity of our country. Question: for whom it is not good?” he said.
According to Medvedchuk, first of all, it is not good for the current authority. “The authority is not in return of these people because they will never vote for it at the presidential and parliamentary elections. The authority, as it recognized the reality of this peace plan, assumes that it does not need these people,” the politician noted.
He emphasized that easier way for the authority and it implements it is the sanctions policy against Russia, forcing Russia to influence the return of these people and territories. “But how it influences and which results it gives, I think, there is no need to explain because the whole world knows about it. Because the current authority is interested in the non-fulfillment of the peace plan. They stand against my offers, which are not theoretical but practical,” Medvedchuk added.
As we reported earlier, Viktor Medvedchuk, the politician and the head of 'Ukrainsky Vybir' (Ukrainian Choice) political party faces prosecution in Ukraine. Ukraine’s Prosecutor General's Office opened the case against him in state treason and encroachment on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. The basis for the criminal proceeding is an application of the Ukrainian MP from the People’s Front political party. The criminal case opened against the politician for his proposals on settlement of the military conflict in Donbas by granting the region with autonomy and capturing that in the Constitution of Ukraine. Medvedchuk voiced the proposals at the All-Ukrainian Congress of the party on January 29.
Members of the European Parliament condemned the criminal proceeding against Viktor Medvedchuk, the representative of the "Opposition Platform - For Life" political party.
