Oleksandr Tkachenko has written a resignation letter from the position of the head of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, he states on his Facebook page.

"I wrote my resignation today. About the reasons. The decision of the Cabinet of Ministers on the State Cinema was made without the approval of the Culture Ministy. It is illogical to take the State Cinema from the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy and transfer it to the Cabinet of Ministers. It's like taking the company's transport department and handing it over to the board of directors. Such styles and approaches to process management surprise me - not my concept and values," Tkachenko wrote.

The official stressed that instead of continuing to implement the European concept of reform on the transfer of operational functions to services and relevant agencies, which he had insisted on since February, a decision was made with which he did not agree.

"According to the administrative reform, at the beginning of the year the government decided to establish the State Service and the State Inspectorate for the Protection of Cultural Heritage. After that, a few months later, the ministry received a letter from the Prime Minister to withdraw our proposal to establish these institutions. Filling of the State Arts with functionality was also blocked," Tkachenko added.

In addition, the Minister added that he considers unacceptable the expenditures of the State Budget-2022 on culture. As for the evaluation of his work in office, he stated that he managed to do about 50% of what was planned.

As it was reported, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed five ministers on November 3:

  • Oleksiy Lyubchenko as Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture;
  • Roman Abramovsky as Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine;
  • Oleh Urusky as Vice Premier for Industrial Policy;
  • Oleksiy Reznikov as Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories;
  • Andriy Taran as Minister of Defense of Ukraine.

Instead, Verkhovna Rada appointed:

  • Andriy Malovany as Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine;
  • Yulia Svyrydenko as Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture;
  • Pavlo Ryabikin as Vice Premier for Industrial Policy;
  • Iryna Vereshchuk as Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories;
  • Oleksiy Reznikov as the position of Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
