Culture Minister not to punish National Choir named after Veryovka for song performed at Kvartal 95

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Volodymyr Borodyansky stated that he would not apply the administrative penalties toward the National Choir named after Hryhoriy Veryovka after the song about the arson of the house of ex-Head of the National Bank Valeria Gontareva, as Radio Liberty reported.

Borodyansky responded to the question of whether the administrative penalty would be applied: “From my side – no”.

He noted that the song about Gontareva was “unacceptable”.

“The incident that took place is unacceptable in my view. It is not fatal but unacceptable. I believe that it is necessary to draw conclusions and not do it anymore”.

Earlier, it was reported that Culture Minister started thinking whether it was necessary to finance the choir named after Veryovka.

Kvartal 95 comedy show along with the choir sang a song mocking arson of the house of former National Bank Head Gontareva.

The lyrics of the song contained such words: “The house was burning, was ablaze; a woman cried in London”, “The house is burning in Horenychy and in London Valeria thinks on Valerych (Ihor Kolomoysky, -”, “Moral of the story is simple – the house burn with shame”.

According to Radio Liberty, Gontareva called the mocking her sorrow to be the shame.
