Ukraine’s General Prosecutor’s Office opened a case on Murayev, a Ukrainian MP, under the articles on state treason and misleading information about a committed crime, as Larysa Sargan, Ukraine’s General Prosecutor’s Office Spokesperson, wrote on Facebook.
“On June 8, 2018, Ukraine’s General Prosecutor’s Office included into the Unified Registry of Pre-Trial Investigation the information that Murayev, Ukraine’s MP, committed the crimes provided by the articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” Sargan wrote.
The criminal proceeding was registered because Sergiy Pashynsky (People’s Front faction) informed about Murayev’s illegal actions from the rostrum of the Ukrainian Parliament.
Earlier, Yevgen Murayev stated that Oleg Sentsov was preparing explosions and arsons in annexed Crimea. This doubted the possibility of exchanging Sentsov.
“Earlier, Murayev in his interview for 112 Ukraine provided a legal assessment of the fact that aggressor state convicted Oleg Sentsov, a Ukrainian movie director, as a terrorist. In particular, as an individual who was preparing arsons and explosions, which challenged the reasonability of Sentsov’s possible exchange for the individuals accused and convicted by the Ukrainian courts for terrorism and separatism,” Sargan wrote.
The SBU Central Investigation Department will manage the pre-trial investigation of the case mentioned above. Ukraine’s General Prosecutor’s Office will conduct the surveillance.
Ukrainian political prisoner Oleg Sentsov has announced a hunger strike on May 14. This way, he demands that all Ukrainians detained in Russia and annexed Crimea be released. Sentsov said he was ready to die if the requirements were not fulfilled.
June 1-2, the international campaign #SaveOlegSentsov to be held in different cities around the world. The organizers say that these days they "will give a red card to the regime of Putin," who illegally keeps people behind the bars.
