Crimean Titan factory is pumping the water from the mainland Ukraine, namely from Kherson region. Borys Babin, the Ukrainian presidential envoy in Crimea said this while on air at 112 Ukraine TV channel.
'Before the occupation (annexation of Crimea by Russia in February 2014, - 112 International), Titan had the official permission to pump water from the boreholes, located in Kalanchak district of Kherson region (southern Ukraine). As of 2017, as much as I understand, this system of water pumping is not functional anymore here, in Ukraine-controlled territories; but it still works in the occupied areas. They made some more boreholes there, and they are connected to this horizon. So, they actually pump water from the shelves in Kherson region', he stated.
The official marked that it is a significant problem since the plant takes the water that local Ukrainian farmers need as well.
'Residents of Kherson region need that water. Of course, noone pays for it. And it's a big issue of the payment, the compensation for considerable damage, apart from the respective rent for using the soil in this area', Babin concluded.
Earlier, we reported that the hit of a shell during the training of Russian army units led to the chemical emission at the plant “Crimean Tytan”. An unknown substance was discharged in the air in Armyansk, North Crimea. A greasy mud with a yellow shade appeared on metallic objects, roofs and leaves on the trees.
Later, Sergey Aksyonov, the “leader” of the annexed Crimea claimed that the situation with the discharge of the unknown substance in the air goes beyond the norms.
Moreover, toxic chemicals were detected in the air in the Kherson region, southern Ukraine. Refat Chubarov, the Chairman of the Crimean Tatars’ Mejlis claimed that the evacuation of the children due to the emission of the unknown substance begun in Armyansk.
