In Crimea, the occupation authorities deliver all water to their own military bases, refusing the population in proper access to this vitally important resource as Ukrinform reported citing MP Rustam Umerov.
“In Crimea, there is enough water to supply our citizens with it but it is not enough for the Russian military bases. The things we observe are the mass movement of the citizens of Russia to Crimea. That is why, the hype around the water crisis is the fake story created by the Russian Federation as the attempt to weaken the positions of Ukraine, particularly, in front of the international partners,” Umerov said.
According to him, Russia tries to assign guilt for the humanitarian crisis on the peninsula to Ukraine.
The MP noted that about a billion cubic meters of water are available in the territory of Crimea. Only 2-3 million cubic meters are used in the interests of the population. Other water resources are used by the Russian military bases.
As we reported, in Crimea annexed by Russia, five rivers dried out; they provided the reservoirs of drinking runoff of the peninsula with fresh water.
Besides, the third, most severe, stage of restrictions on water supply has officially begun in Crimea.
