President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko claims that people may suffer from the panic provoked by the spread of Chinese coronavirus even more than from the disease itself. He said so as quoted by BELTA news agency, as the officials reported current epidemiological situation in the country.
"In spite of certain criticism on my behalf, I call this coronavirus nothing but hysteria, and I'll never refuse from that because I've surived many sorts of hysteria - along with you. And we know what it came to. I'm pretty sure it's another hysteria of the same kind, which will suit someone well, and it will also hurt someone", the Belarusian leader said.
According to him, the quick spread of the disease allowed to 'shake' the Belarusian healthcare system, especially virologists and epidemologists.
Unlike the neighboring countries, Belarus did not close its borders and did not impose the quarantine in education establishments.
According to Worldometer, as of March 19, the number of those infected in Belarus makes 51. At that, five people are already cured.
