Covid-19 in Ukraine: 255 new cases among law enforcers over 24 hours

More than 9,700 cases have been confirmed among police workers since the pandemic reached Ukraine

Over the last 24 hours, Ukraine's Interior Ministry confirmed 255 new cases of coronavirus in their ranks. As of October 21, the overall number of confirmed cases exceeded 9,700.

On October 20, most of the cases were detected in Volyn region (24), Zaporizhya region (21) and Kyiv (39).

8,980 law enforcers recovered from the disease since March 2020; 26 passed away.

As of early Wednesday, the officially recorded number of Covid-infected people in Ukraine made 315,826 cases (+6,719 per 24 hours). 

Earlier, the Office of the President of Ukraine claimed that Ukrainian experts approached the invention of domestic anti-coronavirus vaccine

According to the message, the developers showed President the results of pre-clinical stage of investigation of original Ukrainian candidate to become the approved vaccine. "These tests were ran during six months, and they include presence of neutralization of Covid-19 in the culture of infected cells of a human body. This candidate of the original Ukrainian vaccine is being created based on the unique approach", reads the message on the website.

One of the developers claims that the current prototype could help people fight new, forthcoming kinds of coronavirus infections that keep mutating.
