Lawyers of former president Viktor Yanukovych insist that the Ukrainian court violated the course of the investigation into the case of murders of the Heavenly Hundred. Vitaliy Serdyuk, the member of the defense team said that as quoted by UNN news agency.
‘In several days, we will turn to the Council of Europe, pleading for independent re-monitoring of the investigation into this crucial case. This case will let us find out the truth about the starting point of all grave consequences for the modern Ukrainian history’, Serdyuk said as quoted.
The lawyer also published an excerpt from the interview of Yuriy Lutsenko, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General who told Deutsche Welle that the court allowed the conviction in absentia in cases of Viktor Yanukovych and former leaders of Ukraine’s Interior Ministry and the Security Service.
‘Not a single court allowed beginning the investigation in absentia – not to mention the conviction of Yanukovych in absentia. It is obvious that the Prosecutor General’s commentary is a deliberate deception of the European community about the current status of these investigations in Ukraine’, he wrote.
