Kyiv Pechersk district court allowed the special pre-trial investigation in the case of Viktor Yanukovych, the ex-president of Ukraine. Press department of the Office of Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported that on Monday. It concerns the crimes against Euromaidan activists, including their mass murders in the downtown Kyiv in February 2014. 

According to the investigation, Yanukovych who acted together with ex-head of Security Service and Interior Minister was directly involved in the organization of forceful actions against the unarmed rally participants in 2014. These actions resulted in mass victims among the civilians in the downtown Kyiv on February 18-20, 2014.

The former Ukrainian leader is accused of membership in a criminal gang, illegal prevention of rallies and demonstrations, power abuse, intentional murders, and organization of a terrorist act. 

The respective court decision gives prosecution the right to hold pre-trial investigation against him in absentia.
