The Council of the European Union has decided to sign a visa facilitation agreement with Belarus. This stated in the message published in the Official Journal of the European Union.

“The text of the agreement will be published together with the official decision on its conclusion,” the message said.

"It is hereby authorized to sign, on behalf of the EU, an agreement with the Republic of Belarus on visa facilitation," the text of decision states.

In September, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko decided to sign agreements with the European Union on visa facilitation and readmission.

The signing of the agreements will simplify the procedure for issuing Schengen visas to Belarusian citizens and will reduce their cost from 60 to 35 euros.

As we reported earlier, Belarus held parliamentary elections in order to form the National Assembly of the seventh convocation. They were supposed to be held in 2020, but in April, President Aleksandr Lukashenko scheduled the polls for the fall, and next year the presidential elections would be held.
