The ongoing construction of the bridge over Kerch Strait could vastly interfere with Ukraine’s transport connection with international markets. Marie Yovanovitch, the ambassador of the United States in Ukraine said that during her speech, which she delivered at the international conference for maritime security in Kyiv.
‘As Russia keeps on building the Kerch bridge, it considerably limits shipments to Ukrainian seaports in the Sea of Azov. These ports are important gates for transporting Ukrainian coal, metal and grain on the way to crucial international markets,’ Yovanovitch said.
The ambassador added that Crimea’s annexation caused Ukraine to lose 70 percent of its Navy. She also slammed Russia for exploiting Ukraine’s gas depots in the Black Sea shelf.
