Completion of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline construction is not in the interests of Europe, since it will intensify Russia's aggression. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal warned about this in an interview with Handelsblatt, which will be published on March 22, Deutsche Welle writes.
According to the head of government,"if Nord Stream 2 is put into operation, Russia will receive higher profits, thanks to which it will be able, among other things, to finance its aggressive actions in Ukraine."
"This cannot coincide with the interests of the EU," Denys Shmyhal said.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of the State Antony Blinken reminded all contributors to the Nord Stream II project about the threat of American sanctions. He left the respective post on Twitter.
"The Biden administration has made clear the Nord Stream 2 is a bad deal. We continue to monitor activity and warn any entity involved in the Nord Stream 2 pipeline will risk sanctions. We are committed to complying with the Congressional legislation in this regard," Blinken wrote.
Earlier, we reported that the US Secretary of the State was ready to discuss the new sanctions with the Senate.
