At the beginning of November, Ukraine's coal reserves in warehouses amounted to 95% of last year's volume. Andriy Gerus, the representative of the president in the Cabinet, MP, and Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Housing, wrote on Facebook.

“At the beginning of September, coal reserves in warehouses amounted to about 50% of last year's volume. At the beginning of November, it was already 95% of last year. 11 out of 15 blocks were in operation (9 out of 15 at the beginning of September),” he stated.

According to Gerus, in this way in October Ukraine "was well prepared for the winter."
Earlier DTEK Group, Ukraine's largest energy holding company, purchased 88,000 tonnes of G group coal from Columbia.

"The unloading of the W-Ace bulk carrier has already begun at the TIS terminal (Odesa region), after which coal will go to DTEK Energy's thermal power plants (TPPs)", the DTEK's press office reported as cited by the news agency.

"According to DTEK Energy CEO Dmytro Sakharuk, today, the company has already contracted 388,000 tonnes of coal from abroad. Earlier, DTEK CEO Maksym Tymchenko said that by the end of the year, the company's demand for imported coal is about 1 million tonnes, taking into account already contracted volumes", reads the story.

The implementation of the EU-Ukraine energy bridge that envisages the extension of the Burshtyn power hub could be instrumental to upgrade Khmelnytska nuclear power plant. That would also let the plant's workers change the obsolete hardware. Energoatom company that produces half of the electric energy in this country said this in a commentary for 112 Ukraine news agency.
