All coal supplies coming from the militant-controlled territories of Donbas to government-controlled territories of the country will be confiscated – in case such supplies cross the division line in Donbas and enter the Ukraine-held area. Energy Minister Ihor Nasalyk said that on air at 112 Ukraine TV channel on Monday, May 22.
According to him, after the Russia-backed mercenaries ‘nationalized’ Ukrainian coal mines, the government lost the opportunity to keep track of the environmental conditions of these mines, as well as the production and sale of coal.
‘Of course, the government did everything to prevent the supplies from the occupied territories from coming to Ukraine; specifically, the Energy Ministry asked the State Fiscal Service and Energy Customs Service to check the coal supplies for quality and origin. Every piece of coal is like a fingerprint; it has its own geological structure and its own indexes. That’s why any imported coal coming to Ukraine is to be chemically analyzed. If the coal from the militant-controlled territories of Donbas enters the Ukraine-held area, it will be seized. All supplies shipped from other countries will be duly checked, too,’ Nasalyk said.
Earlier, 112 International reported that since the beginning of the year, Ukraine received over 1.7 million tons of coal from the militant-held territories.
