The closing of the polling stations on the territory of the Russian Federation by the Central Election Commission is the reason for the recognition of the elections as illegitimate. Valentyn Zemlyansky, the expert in energy issues made such statement as 112 Ukraine reported.
“It is the violation of the acting legislation. If the law provides the possibility to vote for the citizens of Ukraine who stay on the territory of the Russian Federation, the Embassy of Ukraine is the sovereign territory of Ukraine. It is the restriction of the constitutional rights of the citizens of Ukraine who stay in Russia. Thus, part of the voices is removed, and the elections... it is the reason to recognize them as illegitimate,” he said.
Representative of the “Opposition platform – For Life” Viktor Medvedchuk called the decision of the Central Election Commission a restriction of the civilian rights of the Ukrainians.
“Such decision of the Central Election Commission made at the beginning of the election campaign opens the way for possible falsifications and witnesses about the fact that authority continues walking on the totalitarian course for the restriction of the constitutional rights of the citizens. The issue is about the citizens of the south-east of the country, Russian-language population, supporters of the normalization of the relations with Russia and all those, who do not support the anti-people policy of “predatory nationalism” and the tariff genocide held by the authority,” he wrote.
Earlier the Central Election Commission of Ukraine closed all polling station in Russia, particularly, Moscow, Rostov-on-Don, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk.
