Over 98 million Americans have already voted, as they have the right to vote beforehand. Voting began last Thursday: people can come to the polling station that is already functioning or send their vote by mail. We visited one of these sites and talked to people.
Everyone here adheres to quarantine restrictions in connection with the coronavirus. Americans say that it is very convenient that they can vote early because on Tuesday many people are busy and cannot come to the polling station.
Regarding the expectations of who will become president, they say that they need changes and strengthening the economy, they say that the United States is a very important country in the world, and much depends on it. It is necessary that a president is a person who can maintain peace with other countries. According to surveys, Joseph Biden is in the lead at the moment. But in America, the electoral system is such that it does not guarantee that the candidate with the most votes at the national level wins, as was the case in the previous election. There is an electoral college, and votes are spread proportionally to it. Now all of America is preparing for the protests. The election results should be announced by December 8, but in fact, it will take 2-3 days. The largest cities are preparing for protests, all the neighborhoods near the White House with many shops, office centers, restaurants clog their premises with plywood, as they expect riots.

Katrina Fitzgerald, Pennsylvania resident: “We suffered, but strongly hoped that Trump would introduce tariffs for foreign companies. We thought it would be a relief and rejuvenate the steel industry, but we never saw it. In the end, we were fired.”
The election will be held in the United States on Tuesday, November 3. Citizens will elect a president and vice president, all 435 members of the House of Representatives and a third of the Senate of Congress, governors of 13 of U.S. states and territories.
