Cities with population of 75,000+ to hold second round of local election, - OPORA observers

According to the results of preliminary vote count, most of the Ukrainian cities with population above 75,000 people will be hosting round 2 of local elections. Olga Aivazovska, the Chairman of the Board of OPORA civilian network said so as quoted by Interfax-Ukraine.

"We see there are big prospects of organization of repeated voting in most of the territorial communities with at least 75,000 people, in the election for the office of city mayor", Aivazovska said.

First round of presidential election took place in Ukraine on October 25. Citizens elected representatives in the local and regional councils, as well as heads of rural and city councils.

Voter turnout at this year’s local elections was 36.88%, the Central Election Commission (CEC) reports.

"100% of the information provided by all regions of Ukraine has been processed. The data came from territorial election commissions. 10 million 556 thousand 621 voters received ballots and voted yesterday," the statement said.

According to published data, the highest turnout was recorded in Ternopil region - 44.68%, as well as in Lviv region - 43.82%, and in Volyn region - 41.89%. The lowest turnout was observed in Donetsk region, 31.67%, as well as in Mykolayiv (32.02%), Kharkiv (32.33%), and Kherson (32.39%) regions.
