The CIA believes that Russia intervened in the presidential elections in the US in order to help the Republican Donald Trump win. It was reported by Washington Post, citing sources.

Sources of publication reported that the CIA identified individuals who were allegedly linked with the Russian authorities, and provided letters from hacked server of the Democratic Party to the WikiLeaks website, including the letters of Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, John Podesta.

“It is the assessment of the intelligence community that Russia’s goal here was to favor one candidate over the other, to help Trump get elected,” said a senior U.S. official briefed on an intelligence presentation, according to Washington Post.
