The chief of the International Centre for Peacekeeping and Security is suspected in collaboration with the Russian GRU (military intelligence, - 112 International). Ukraine’s Security Service, the SBU, charged him with the respective violation; later, the fact was confirmed by the court’s decision released last month.

The investigation found out that in 2015 and 2016, the suspect who used to chair the Yavoriv firing range, which also includes the International Centre for Peacekeeping and Security, completed various tasks given by GRU official; he apparently collected data about the Centre’s current activity and handed it over to the Russian side.

‘As he explained to the SBU agents the reasons for his confidential cooperation with Russian military intelligence, he voluntarily passed the Ukrainian agents his notes, laptop, disks and passwords to the software that he used to contact the Russian side,’ the court said.

The court arrested the suspect’s facility, including the laptop, cell phone, other data storage devices and his documents. The official is officially charged with state treason; the investigation into the case is underway.

On July 13, The International Centre for Peacekeeping and Security corrected the SBU’s information, saying that the detained suspect is the chief of the all arms training centre at Yaroriv firing range in Lviv region, western Ukraine; he does not chair the Centre for Peacekeeping and Security at the same time.
