Changing the structure of Ukraine's Constitution, which the MPs of the Servant of the People faction are doing since their first days in power, means disrupting the balance of rights and obligations. If the balance is violated, then we must build up the whole pattern of power in a different way. MP Viktor Medvedchuk, the chairman of the political council of the party "Opposition Platform - For Life", said that on air of Newsone TV Channel.

“Of course, you can’t change the Constitution, as the MPs of the Servant of the People party started doing since their first days in power. Why? Because changing the structure of Ukraine's Constitution means disrupting the balance of rights and obligations. If the balance is broken, then you need to build up a different model of power. Because monopolization of power, the monopolization of power in the same hands, in the same hands, is always nonsense for society and for the development of the country," Medvedchuk said.

According to the opposition politician, democracy is a characteristic feature of the mentality of Ukrainian citizens.

“When the constitutional reform was being developed, as the author I put a certain task. I publicly explained this position that there should be no concentration of power in the hands of the president. I was the head of the administration then. Because this position was agreed and I am grateful to Leonid Danylovych (Kuchma, - ed.), that he was reasoning from the same point of view: if there is a concentration of power in the same hands and are living in a presidential-parliamentary form of government, then we say: we must switch to a parliamentary-presidential formula because democracy is a characteristic feature of the mentality of Ukrainian citizens. This is a philosophy, a way of life of the Ukrainians, not of the political elite, but of the Ukrainians," he said, adding that "our point of view, our philosophy of management of the territory of the image or the country also comes from such a collective understanding."

"And what is happening today? We have a parliamentary-presidential form of government, and government officials are forgetting about it. When the president says: I decided, I submitted a law, it needs to be adopted... How was the Cabinet formed? After all, it should be formed in a different way. This is the majority, the coalition had to consider the candidacy, submit it to the president, and the president had to return it for approval. This ceremonial thing is provided for by the Constitution. We didn’t hide it. But it turns out like this: he said the prime minister, the government, as Ms. Anna Skorokhod said on air of your TV channel (am I right, right?)? What did she say? We were told that now, you can ask a question, then you said no-no-no. 15 minutes, this Cabinet’s composition, you must vote for it because the president is responsible for them. Stop! Not the president! But not the president. I affirm as the author of that part of the Constitution, according to which the country lives, not the president, but the parliamentary coalition. This is the mono-majority responding. And they relieved themselves of responsibility. This is already a violation of the law, "Medvedchuk emphasized.
