Ukraine's Interior Ministry and the National Guard of Ukraine began a new custom, which is a feature of everyday life in many countries worldwide. The ceremony of the changing of guards will be taking place every weekend and on holidays. The venue will be the Parliament's building in the Ukrainian capital. The press office of the Interior Ministry reported that on March 1.

The first ceremony took place at the Constitution Square, in front of the Parliament on Monday, March 1. The state flag was hoisted, too, as part of the ceremony.

The National Guard commanding officer Mykola Balan claims that it's "something new for our state". "But we hope it will become a good custom... From now on, on weekends and holidays, the guards mounting will be taking place - every hour in the wintertime, and every two hours in the summertime. The guards will be serving from 10 a.m. till 6 p.m.", Balan said.
