President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman congratulated Ukrainian diplomats on the 100th anniversary of the Ukrainian diplomatic service.
‘Ukrainian diplomats protect the interests of our state on the international arena. Thanks to their efforts, the international society supports Ukraine’s aspiration to strengthen the democratic values and freedoms. It also helps us withstand the Russian aggression’, Poroshenko’s tweet reads.
Originally the Ministry was established as the General Secretariat of Nationalities as part of the General Secretariat of Ukraine, the-then government. Due to the Soviet intervention in late 1917, the office was reformed into a ministry - on December 22, 1917.
Since 1991, when Ukraine proclaimed independence, the ministry has been serving the interests of the newborn state, protecting them in the international arena.
