The Central Election Committee of Ukraine (CEC) turned to Donetsk and Luhansk regional state administration, asking them to provide conclusions about possibility of preparation and conduction of first local elections on March 28, 2021. Press office of the CEC reported that on January 5.
The list of communities where the elections could be held includes ten communities in Donetsk region and eight in Luhansk region.
Originally, local elections were supposed to take place in October 2020, but then, the local authorities were not ready to organize and conduct the voting procedure. So, in August, the CEC decided that there would be no election there.
If this time, the answer from local authorities is positive, the Central Election Committee will have to make the decision about holding the election until January 17.
