The plane belongs to the 436th air wing basing at the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware (the U.S.). The flight has become one of the few that could evacuate such a number of people.
It is noted that the plane was not going to take on board so many people; however, Afghan refugees has entered the airdrome and burst through to the board of the plane. The crew made a decision not to let off the Afghan people by force and fly with everyone on the board.
“About 640 Afghan civilians have left the plane when it reached the destination point,” the message says.
As we reported, Ukraine evacuated from Afghanistan on its plane Ukrainians and the citizens of four more countries. Later, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky specified on Twitter that almost 80 people were evacuated from Afghanistan on the Ukrainian plane. The number includes eight Ukrainians and citizens of other states who asked about the urgent evacuation.
The Taliban militants seized Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. Members of the diplomatic missions of the Western countries and their staff consisting of locals did not evacuate and they stay in the capital airport, where chaos is observed.
On August 15, Taliban militants stated to take control over the whole territory of Afghanistan. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani left the country a few hours after the radical Taliban entered Kabul.
