Canada will not recognize the annexation of Crimea by Russia; the peninsula remains the inseparable part of Ukraine. Stephane Dion, Canadian foreign minister, said this during his speech at the ongoing OSCE ministerial summit in Hamburg, Germany, as quoted by Ukrinform news agency.
According to him, searching for ways to solve the crisis in Ukraine should remain among the priorities of OSCE’s actions.
The diplomat stressed that OSCE’s basic principle is inviolability of the territorial integrity of states. ‘This is why we should decisively stand against the recent attempts to re-draw the borders of Europe, which definitely contradicts the norms of international law and the Helsinki Final Act,’ Dion said.
