Official Kyiv expects a decision on granting weapons by Canada. This was stated in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, by the chief of the General Staff Viktor Muzhenko.
"We expect such a decision, but now it is at the stage of discussion and detailing," he said.
Earlier, Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, after talks with Petro Poroshenko, said that Canada was working on legislation that would abolish the current ban on the sale of weapons to Ukraine. He stressed that for inclusion in this list, Ukraine must meet a number of criteria. At the same time, Trudeau did not mention specific dates, when this process could end.
We recall that the supply of protective weapons to Ukraine was supported by former NATO Secretary General Anders Rasmussen, who visited the area of Donbas conflict in Eastern Ukraine.
As previously reported, in the bill of the US defense budget for the next year mentioned $ 500 million of financial assistance to Ukraine and the provision of defensive lethal weapons.
This year the US president approved the allocation of assistance to Ukraine in amount of $ 560 million.
