Canada will always support Ukraine in repelling aggressive attacks from Russia. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Chrystia Freeland claimed this on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932-1933, Ukrinform reports.
‘Canada will always be with Ukraine standing against the attempts of limiting its right for self-determination, including Russia, and to protect the Ukrainian people, its sovereignty and the territorial integrity,’ she said.
Freeland reminded that the organizers of the genocide of the Ukrainian nation wanted to break the will of the Ukrainian nation and denied their actions.
‘The attempts to destroy Ukrainian spirit failed. Today and always, we remember this terrible chapter of human history and honor the memory of the victims,’ she stressed.
It should be noted that Canada became the first state in the world after Ukraine, which recognized the Holodomor, as an act of the genocide of the Ukrainians in 2008. From that time, the Day of Remembrance of Holodomor Victims is marked on the official level.
According to the President of Ukraine, there are 15 countries recognized it. Apart from Canada - Estonia, Australia, Hungary, Lithuania, Georgia, Poland, Peru, Paraguay, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, Latvia, Portugal and Vatican.
