Canada condemned the negligence of Tehran in the investigation of the PS752 tragedy in January 2020. This is mentioned in the address of Foreign Minister Marc Garneau.
"The behavior of the Iranian government has been frankly unconscionable in this past 15 months and we are going to continue to pursue them so we have accountability," Garneau told the committee of legislators who look into the order of investigation of the disaster in Iran. Reuters cited him as saying.
According to him, it took months to make Iran pass the "black boxes" from the plane for independent analysis. Foreign Minister of Canada added that Tehran authorities still has not explained why the air space over the city was not closed at that time.
Garneau added that Iran's behaviour is "totally unacceptable ... they are laying the blame on some low-level people who operated a missile battery and not providing the accountability within the chain of command."
The Canadian Foreign Ministry pledges to bring Iranian investigators to justice; Ottawa also prepares its own forensic report about the disaster, which is to be released within coming weeks.
