The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved and submitted to the National Security and Defense Council a development strategy for the military industrial complex. The relevant decision was made during a government session.
"The development strategy of the military industrial complex of Ukraine determines the goals, main directions of the state military industrial policy, current and forecasted factors that influence the development of the military industrial complex," the statement said.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal noted that the document contains the main priorities and development thrust of the military industrial complex, considering all current threats.
"The important emphases of the strategy are the implementation of NATO standards, corporatization of military industrial enterprises, import substitution of critical materials, support of innovations through stimulating economic and financial mechanisms," Shmygal said.
He also said that the approval of such a strategy is a very important signal of readiness of Ukraine to bring the fight to the aggressor and provide our military with modern military items made in Ukraine.
As it was reported earlier, Ukrainian Defense Minister Andriy Taran announced Ukraine's readiness to increase its contribution to NATO-led operations so that the country could get an opportunity to move closer to the strategic goal of full-fledged membership in the alliance.
