Bundestag member Dr. Robbie Schlund supported the initiative of Chairman of the Political Council of Opposition Platform - For Life party Viktor Medvedchuk, to create the Parliamentary Dimension of the Normandy format.
"Yes, indeed it’s a big problem and now the only way in Germany and the politics all the time we speak about coronavirus and it is a big problem because we have in this world a lot of foreign affairs problems and problems in these countries. I think that it is very necessary that we in the politics speaks about these problems. Why? After the coronavirus crisis, the economic situation would not be the same as in former times, and in war-affected region maybe the situation is worse, or the conflict potential increases, and that’s why we need to speak about the stabilization process in Eastern Ukraine - in video conference mode or by Skype," he said.
Schlund also noted that Ukraine needs help in the peace process.
“And secondly, it is very necessary that we speak about the future, the common way in Europe and economic future. And maybe tEastern Ukraine can have the position of a very big player, too. And that is very necessary that we help Ukraine in peaceful process,” the German politician emphasized.
“Thirdly, it is very necessary that the politicians in the world that work in the foreign affairs politics give a sign to Ukrainian people that we have a sign of solidarity, a friendship. And that is very helpful for the peace we can support in the future,” he added.
As we reported earlier, Schlund commented on the initiative of the Chairman of the Political Council of Opposition Platform - For Life party Viktor Medvedchuk to create a Parliamentary Dimension of the Normandy Format.
