The National Center for Cybersecurity of Great Britain (NCSC) offered leading political parties its help in countering Russian hacker attacks. The corresponding letter was sent by the director of the center Kiaran Martin.
This writes The Sunday Time.
In view of the parliamentary elections to be held in 2020, the center proposed to hold "technical seminars" for political parties, where its professionals will raise the problem of cybersecurity.
"It's not just about cybersecurity of our systems of political parties: attacks on our democratic processes can be broader, they can be targeted at the parliament, local election commissions, research centers and e-mail addresses of individuals, as well as groups of influential people," the letter stated.
Politicians were warned that Moscow would try to steal and disclose internal correspondence, as well as information from the bases with voters' opinions about certain political parties. The newspaper stressed that these actions will be aimed at worsening relations between parties and citizens.
