The Brexit can lead to the crisis in the food-supply while the Government of the UK does not show the awareness of the problem and does not provide the ways to deal with it. The UK academics on food system claimed this at their paperwork as Business Insider Netherland reported.

According to the academics, “The silence about the future of UK food since the Brexit referendum is an astonishing act of political irresponsibility and suggests chaos unless redressed".

As the report says, the third of the food comes to Britain from the EU countries and the Brexit can disrupt the supply of the products. However, this problem is not discussed by the government and it provides no strategy for post-Brexit future.

Another problem is that the UK citizens use to consume the European products and since the creation of the EU their tastes noticeably changed. Despite the desire to consume the British products they often prefer to buy the EU food. All this, including the absence of the trade deal with EU, can also lead to the increase of the prices up to the 50%.

The former CEO of the supermarket Justin King expressed such opinion that the Brexit will cause 'higher prices, less choice and poorer quality in the supermarkets'.
