A branch of Constantinople Church was created in Ukraine, as MP Yuriy Boyko, the representative of “Opposition platform,” said.
“If the clergymen themselves got together and decided to create a unified church, this might be welcomed. But if a branch of Constantinople Church was created in the country under the pressure of the current President, this is not unification, this is further division of the people, spreading of religious distemper among people,” Boyko noted.
“I think that if the authority wanted to corner the people by saying: “this is a good church and this is a bad one,” they have reached an opposite effect. The clergymen became stronger in their true faith and they stood against the violence they undertake,” Boyko said.
December 5, Rivne region branch of the SBU (State Security Service of Ukraine) interrogated 12 priests from the Rivne and Sarny (Rivne region) eparchies of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Moscow Patriarchate.
