European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell believes that a Russian military invasion of Ukraine is still possible as BBC reported.

"There are 100,000 Russian troops on the other side of the border. I suppose they haven't gone there to drink coffee!”, Borrell noted.

The European diplomat said he had received assurances from the US, which had held talks with Russia on strategic stability, that no issue would be negotiated without "close cooperation, coordination, and participation of the EU".

Russia has repeatedly denied that it plans to launch a military operation in Ukraine. Last month, the Russian government issued a series of demands to the US and EU, including a commitment never to accept Ukraine into NATO.

We remind that the first round of US-Russia talks concluded in Geneva on the evening of January 9. The meeting lasted two hours. The second round of dialogue began on January 10 and lasted over 7.5 hours. The meeting took place on the premises of the US Permanent Mission in Geneva. During the consultations, the sides took several breaks.
