Ukraine’s Border Guard and the National Police detained civilian vessel Bosporus, flying the flag of Moldova. According to the law enforcers, the crew illegally shipped sailors from Ukraine to the Russian-annexed Crimea. The incident took place in Odesa region.

‘The joint group detected an organized criminal gang that has been operating for a long time. It turned out that in 2015-2017, the perpetrators used foreign-going ships to illegally move sailors through the closed checkpoints in the temporarily occupied Crimea,’ the message of the authority’s press department  said, adding that about a hundred residents of Odesa and Kherson regions (southern Ukraine) were moved  across the border this way.

The investigation into the case continues.
