The accident took place not far from Bodrum. Two extra teams of Coast Guard, a divers' squad and a helicopter rushed to the site.
The boat sunk in the area where the depth reaches 35 meters. As of 1 p.m. June 17, the search and rescue teams saved 31 passengers; they are searching for another nine.
A 64-year-old citizen of Ukraine from Odesa who was a captain of the ship that sank in Danube River, was detained by Hungarian authorities over suspicion in negligence, which caused the deaths of people. This was reported on the website of the National Police of Hungary. According to the passenger list available to the authorities, 35 persons travelled on the sunken boat, 2 Hungarian citizens (being the crew of the boat) and 33 South Korean citizens. Following the accident, 7 persons were rescued from the river and 7 persons were found dead by the rescue forces, all being citizens of the Republic of Korea.
